Biscuiteers’ Private School of Icing – A Storybook Escape in Notting Hill.
Tucked along the picture-perfect streets of Notting Hill, the icing cafe looks like it has been sketched into the neighbourhood rather than built.
AUTUMN HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED.
As summer gives way to autumn, London and the countryside take on a different rhythm. The days become crisper, the colours richer and the calendar fills with exhibitions, workshops, intimate gatherings and opportunities to reconnect with the season.
The holidays may be over, with school and work routines back in full swing, but as the evenings draw in, grab a cuppa, get cosy and discover our seasonal Autumn Edit designed to make the most of this particularly beautiful time of year.
At Biscuiteers’ Notting Hill Icing Café, you can book a kids halloween biscuit icing experience. Here you are introduced to the art of biscuit decorating with a Halloween Potions theme. An expert icer will demonstrate how to decorate the biscuits, before each child has a go with colourful icing and sprinkles. As the designs take shape, there’s time to experiment, add playful details and enjoy making something that is entirely their own. A complimentary drink is included, and each child will take home their creations in a beautiful Biscuiteers gift box.
Few things signal the arrival of autumn quite like the changing colours of the natural world. At Moyses Stevens, that seasonal transformation becomes the inspiration for a beautifully considered autumn wreath workshop.
Working with an abundance of seasonal foliage, flowers and textural details, guests can create their own arrangement under expert guidance. Relaxed, creative and unmistakably autumnal, it's a lovely way to spend a few hours while creating something beautiful to take home. You can book a private session almost any day of the week in their beautiful Battersea Flower School across October.
A playful alternative to traditional pumpkin carving, Moyses Stevens' floral pumpkin workshop brings an elegant botanical touch to one of autumn's most recognisable traditions. Taking place on 30th October, it’s a lovely experience to do over the Halloween weekend.
Combining seasonal flowers with pumpkins to create an imaginative floral arrangement, the experience is wonderfully suited to an afternoon with friends or a creative seasonal celebration. Expect beautiful blooms, expert floristry and a finished piece that makes the perfect centrepiece for an autumn table. Perfect for flower lovers and Halloween enthusiasts alike, this creative workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season while learning new floral design techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
As the evenings draw in, candlelight becomes one of autumn’s simplest pleasures. At Yougi, learn the art of candle making while exploring essential oils and the rituals of scent.
Blending creativity with a moment of calm, it’s a beautifully considered way to welcome the new season. Leave with a hand-poured candle to bring a little autumn warmth home. With workshops available every Wednesday and Saturday. We can see why Time Out has awarded them “one of the best classes in London” honour.
There is something particularly special about the countryside in autumn. At Daylesford Organic, the changing season provides the perfect backdrop for slowing down and learning more about the rhythms of the garden. On 28th October (10:30am–12:00pm), Daylesford’s Create Your Autumn Plant Up workshop invites guests to build a beautiful, bespoke plant arrangement using seasonal foliage, autumnal plants and decorative finishes.
Guided by Daylesford’s gardening team, it’s a gentle, creative way to bring the colours and textures of autumn indoors. Follow the workshop with lunch at the farm and time to browse the home, garden and food collections - a quintessential Cotswolds autumn day, thoughtful, seasonal and quietly restorative.
Autumn is a season of abundance, making it the perfect moment to explore the art of preserving what nature provides.
At Petersham Nurseries, Forage & Ferment with Rachel de Thample celebrates a deep connection to the landscape through a day shaped around seasonal ingredients, wild foraging and hands on fermentation. Taking place on Tuesday, 3 November (10:30 AM – 3:30 PM) led by one of Britain’s most respected fermentation experts.
The day begins with a guided forage through Petersham Meadows and the surrounding gardens, gathering wild foods that will later be transformed into ferments. Back in one of Petersham’s beautiful glasshouses, Rachel leads guests through making four ferments to take home, including autumnal kimchi, a wild green fermented pesto, a sourdough starter and Winter Bitters crafted with herbs from the Petersham garden. She also demonstrates how to make kombucha and uses the bitters to create a healthy take on a negroni. A seasonal lunch prepared by Petersham’s chefs is included. Earthy, thoughtful and beautifully seasonal, the experience captures the slower, more considered spirit of autumn.
On 6th November, celebrated French chef Daniel Galmiche joins Cliveden House’s Executive Head Chef to create an exclusive five-course tasting menu, served in the historic French Dining Room and accompanied by carefully paired wines.
With Galmiche’s contemporary approach to French cuisine, beautiful seasonal ingredients and the grandeur of Cliveden as its backdrop, this is the kind of dinner worth making an occasion of. Arrive early for a walk through the autumnal grounds, or turn the evening into an overnight escape for the ultimate country-house experience.
As the evenings draw in, few things feel more appealing than settling somewhere beautiful with a good book.
Lime Wood's Book Club turns this simple autumn pleasure into an occasion. Set within the relaxed surroundings of its New Forest hotel, the event offers an intimate opportunity to come together over literature, conversation and thoughtful discussion.
Pair it with a stay, a long lunch or time at the spa and it becomes the sort of restorative countryside escape that autumn was made for.
Set within 438 acres of Hampshire countryside, Heckfield Place comes into its own as autumn arrives. Pull on your wellies for a guided walk through the estate, discover its wildlife with bird watching or falconry, or spend an afternoon learning the art of preserving the season’s harvest.
Come November, there’s also bulb planting at Home Farm, a lovely ritual of planting something now to enjoy when spring arrives. Afterwards, retreat to the warmth of the house for seasonal dining, a restorative treatment or simply a quiet afternoon by the fire.
Thoughtful, unhurried and deeply connected to the landscape, its countryside living at its most inviting.
